I have been playing the cello for 13 years now and began giving lessons about five years ago. I have taught everyone from very young beginners, to adults picking up the instrument for the first time, to advanced students preparing to play in a college orchestra. I have prepared many students at all levels for the NYSSMA adjudication, resulting in high scores. However, I encourage students to work on not just their NYSSMA solo, but also to work on thoroughly understanding the skills, techniques, and musicality required of any piece at that level. Read More

My teaching approach focuses on fundamentals of technique, grooves, taste, and good timekeeping. I am interested in a student becoming a good listener and being able to play a variety of musical styles. I integrate rudiments, reading, drum fills, solo ideas, improvisation, and developing a unique style. I use a variety of methods, including skills I heard as a pro drummer on stage in the studio. I make use of books and other lessons depending on the ability level of the student , but I rely on classics like "Stick Control," "Syncopation" and "Accents and Rebounds". Read More

I place a strong focus on fundamentals, while customizing lesson plans based on the student's skill level and musical interests. Most importantly, I like to keep things fun for my students by finding out more about their favorite recording artists, and creating exercises that incorporate this into their learning.
