I love teaching and finding ways to motivate and get my students excited about learning and progressing on their instrument. From beginners to experts, foundational work is key to progressing as a musician. Beginners will start by learning technique, theory, and active listening and music industry 'must haves'. More advanced students will go into more detail on these subjects with a heavier work load. Expert students will learn what they have missed in the beginner to intermediate and advanced levels. I love music and I love teaching. I have been playing the trombone for over 10 years and been involved in music since a very young age. My love of music has given me the opportunity to perform in some of Utah's best music halls, such as Abravanel Hall and The Conference Center on Temple Square, with some of Utah's best performing groups, such as the Utah Symphony and Caleb Chapman's Soundhouse. Much of my approach to teaching is determined by the individual student. I want my students to be the best musicians they can be, and that does require a certain amount of pressure. To the extent that I can for each, I push my students to progress quickly. It can get boring to practice the same piece over and over without variation, so practicing is required.
