Shortly after graduating from Otterbein University, I became a certified substitute teacher for three consecutive school years (2012-2015). While pursuing my career in music, I also greatly enjoyed my time in the classroom. I was certified to teach grades K-12 and worked at dozens of different school districts in the Columbus, OH area. For younger students, I typically start teaching from Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, as it provides a comprehensive method for learning the basics on the saxophne. Once my students have mastered this material, I begin to introduce solo repertoire. For older students, I teach from etude books such as Selected Studies for Saxophone by H. Voxman or Jazz Conception by Jim Snidero. In addition to learning from etudes, students will develop their solo repertoire. Read More
