I am currently a senior studying Music Education at Brigham Young University and am super excited about students and teaching music! I love volleyball, spikeball, spending time outside, frozen yogurt, paint by numbers, reading, baking, and being with family! One of my favorite feelings is the satisfaction between mentor and mentee, when theyre able to accomplish something they werent before.I love to do that through private lessons. I participated in marching and concert band all throughout high school and college, including BYUs Wind Symphony, a touring group with which I have travelled to Spain and Portugal and will perform with at WASBE in Korea this summer. I'm a quietly passionate instructor motivated by my love of music and my students. In 2016, I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Minor in Music. As an undergrad, I often found my love of music creeping into my major coursework-- including my thesis! I've loved practicing and performing for over a decade (which is also more than half of my life!). From receiving my very first "Band Student of the Month" award in the fifth grade to helping soon-to-be-fifth graders achieve that goal themselves, I cannot express how much I love this instrument and the opportunities it has provided. My beginner students use the Essential Elements book. With that book, you can learn fundamentals in trumpet technique as well as counting. For all other students, I use the Herbert L. Clarke Technical Studies book and selections from the Arban's Conservatory Method. We cover a lot of etudes and techniques from the Arban's book. I also believe collaboration is important in lessons so often we will play duets together in lessons. Read More

I began teaching lessons at age 14 to young neighborhood beginners. As I progressed through the years, I expanded my range of student ability from beginner to upper intermediate, and from ages 6 to... well, older than me and I'm now 60! I have taught hundreds of students and enjoyed every one of them. I find that the more effort, especially in consistent and efficient practice (to be explained and demonstrated by me), that my students put in, the more pleasure and satisfaction they get out of it! I began my formal education at Cornish School of Allied Arts in Seattle as Classical Cello major, moved to their Jazz Department as a Bassist and then to the University of Washington to complete my degree in Music Education.
