My teaching experience dates back to high school. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music. I use the "CAGED" system on guitar as a way to navigate the fretboard and understand the patterns on Guitar. I always put a strong emphasis on being able to learn a song by ear and understand the theory behind it. For younger children I use the Hal Leonard Method book to give them the ability to read Music. I teach all styles and advanced lessons including Ear training, Theory, Chord Building, Modes, Scales, and Technique. Read More

Music is a very physical thing as well as a very abstract thing. In my lessons, there will be kennistetic learning through movement as well as teaching through sensation. Using tools like Solfege it helps create muscle memory and tuning. Piano students will learn a wealth of theory knowledge, correct posture and fingering patterns. I will also encourage singing in my piano lessons to reaffirm the student's aural skills. The Alexander Technique is also something that my students will explore in our lessons. Read More

I have a firm grasp on playing and teaching Classical, Jazz(including improvisation), and more commercial styles of music. As music is my personal passion, I aim to get my students to share that passion with me and enjoy making music as much as I do! I want to help students reach their personal goals, and maybe even help them put in auditions for various competitions or joining their own district and even state bands, both Classical and Jazz. Instruments: Violin Viola
I believe that learning an instrument must be taught from all three approaches: tactile, aural, and visual. I incorporate all three of these into each lesson so the student can walk away feeling like she has gotten closer to her instrument! For young students, I follow a Suzuki approach where a parent or guardian plays a vital role in practicing and musical development. I use the Suzuki books, a reliable source for musical progress, as well as some American fiddlin' tunes from the O'Connor Method Books. Read More
