I graduated from UNC-SA through both their highschool and collegiate programs. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I try to make sure that fundamentals are always maintained and that the music we are covering in lessons is stimulating and challenging while still being enjoyable for the student so that they can develop musical expression along with a strong technical foundation. Because I don't have a set template that all students follow, I believe that my constant assessment and evaluation of students needs is effective in making sure that each student's passion is nurtured and developed. I believe that music students are not "one size fits all", so I create an individual approach catered to each student's strengths, weaknesses, and interests. For beginners, I typically start with the very basics such as putting the instrument together(if applicable), posture/form, and fingerings. I like to customize my lesson plans based on the student's needs. It also depends on the style of music that is being learned. I typically like to start with the Rubank method books. These books follow a progressive sequence of beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. However, this is not necessary; the concept of these books is to get a grasp of the fundamentals. I also provide many fundamental exercises I have created and used in my daily practice. Read More

My curriculum is unique for each individual depending on their goals and age, however I generally start beginners out with Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements for Strings, and a few of my own exercises as needed. After they have become comfortable with the violin I begin them on the Suzuki books or other solo repertoire. As the student progresses I gradually phase out Essential Elements and replace it with elementary scale books and exercise books. Read More

I began guitar studies under Mark Mazzatenta at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. I then transferred to Queens University of Charlotte to continue studies with Robert Teixeira, and was awarded the Queens University Performer of the Year in 2008. After earning my Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance in 2008, I went on to study with Christopher Berg at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Masters of Music in Guitar Performance in 2011. We took trips to Chicago every other year to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and to do a workshop at Northwestern University and my students received first and second division ratings at Solo and Ensemble both at the district and state levels. I was a judge for solo and ensemble and band festivals.
