I had taken piano lessons for about 15 years (later adding recorder, guitar, violin, clarinet, saxophone, and cello) and was working as a front desk receptionist in a music school when a teacher notified us of an unexpected long-term absence. I will go over what the students is already involved in initially to assess what the student needs to work on the most. I believe in inspiring the upmost confidence in my students right from the beginning. Young musicians should never feel intimidated, and should want to share their talent with others. Music is unlike any other extra curricular activity in the lives of young ones. Through the arts, a teacher is able to impose the education of feeling. It is important that children grow up knowing that there are multiple solutions to a problem, and music is a great way to instill that idea. Read More

I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. My name is Amber, and I am a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, as well as my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance.
