I believe that learning is incredibly individualized. Each student will have specific goals and ways of understanding instruction. Because of this, I believe that teaching should be just as individualized. I aim to teach each student in what ever way will best support them in their learning, rather than forcing all students to learn in one uniform way. Since the begining, I focus on sight reading and learning repertoire strategies. I believe that if the student is capable of reading and learning the repertoire quickly, he or she will become much more motivated and the act of practicing will be something pleasant. I like my students to fell they practice because they like to, and not only because they have to. I also like the help the students to build a practicing schedule so they will gradually incorporate the practicing time in their own routine. Read More

For intermediate students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 2, and for the advanced students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 3. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach.
