For the begining for those students that they don't know music i teach them the basic, for example i start with the rhythm and after the fundamentals. They are going to learn how to read simple notes. Once they have a grasp of the fundamentals they are ready to be introduce into the piano. I believe that it is the teacher duty not only to impart the wisdom expected of them, but to also guide the students in their academic endeavors. While I understand that each and every student is unique in their learning and progress, I will always strive to push my students forward and sometimes out of their comfort zones as to be better performers, better musicians, and better people. I have been in situations myself as a voice student when I was made to feel self-conscious by my teacher or had even been close to tears in my discouragement over not understanding an instruction.
