As a teacher, I structure made-to-measure lessons plans and progress metrics based on the students age, experience, interest level and other commitments like school, job, family and sports. No one approach to teaching can address the unique talents each student brings to the lesson; I strive to create a balance between progress, talent, goals and commitment to the student experience. My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I need and expect my students to practice at least 15 minutes of per day, more if possible.
