My materials are developed from university level professors who have tried and true practice techniques to help any age group. For middle and high school students I also use etude books for sight reading practice and focus on technique to help with difficult rhythms and wide pitch ranges found in middle and high school music. For adults, I start with asking what their goals are and use supplemented materials depending where their focus is. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching methods are very straightforward. We spend a lesson working through one or two songs. These songs can be provided by the student or by myself. After running through the songs we examine the tools that would be best used to improve the sound and performance of the songs. The most common techniques that I use in lessons are chiaroscuro resonance, even flow phonation, and vowel equalization. I believe in improving by trial and error. Read More

Instruments: Flute Clarinet Recorder Piccolo Music
My methodology is inspired by the Suzuki method, which believes that learning music is similar to how humans learn to speak first, and write later. In the end, music is a type of language. Having said that, I always have a conversation with my students, and/or their parents, to learn what artists they listen to, what their favorite songs are and what goals they want to achieve. As a result, my lessons are catered distinctively to each unique student, but what they all have in common will be a passion for music! Read More
Instruments: Violin
I customize each of my lessons to fit the needs of each particular student. I take into account the goals of each student, and this is something we will discuss regularly. We will typically spend some time on various technical exercises and studies, and then work on different pieces that we will choose together. I always like to hear if there is a certain piece that the student would like to play and will try to incorporate this into our plan. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet Music
I am new. I would not say that I have a set teaching style yet. My point of view has been shaped and molded from those who have previously taught me. In my lessons I am sure I can reciprocate these past teachings to an adequate degree. I have only taught 2 students in person. But, generally I would like to develop basic skills first, breathing, posture, embouchure, angle of neck/face. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For piano students, I start with the Alfred or Bastien method series depending on age, and add lead sheet reading and Hanon exercises as well. I tailor lessons to the student, so if the student is interested in playing contemporary music, we work mainly on that. For voice, I assess the students range, current ability, and goals, and then we focus on vocal exercises that will help them improve their technique and on repertoire that interests them. Read More
