Learning that each student has their own pace at learning an instrument is also very important on both sides tof the teacher and student, so using whatever to help a student grasp how to play is key. I typically use the Alfred method, although I still like John Thompson, and I also like the Faber method. For adults, I like to use the Alfred books that are specifically for them.
