There are two selected teaching methods that I confer with in order to select the most appropriate method for my students. For my beginning students, I select Schaum (Books 1-3) for piano lessons, and Benners Book One for theory lessons. The Schaum methods offers bright and color-coded books, which reflects that various learning levels. The 11 year old wanted to learn how to play the drum set and the 14 year old was interested in playing the guitar. I found the joy of teaching music to children on these instruments was a very challenging but rewarding experience that lasted for 3 years. For pianists, there are so many different method books, I recommend for beginners Faber Method Series for younger beginners, for adult beginners we can start with Alfred's All in One Method for Adult Beginners. I have used Alfred's Series, Piano Adventures, John Thompson's Series, Bastien Series, Playtime Piano Series (also Faber). For more intermediate students I would use books that are a collection of different types of baroque and classical pieces, and First Lessons In Bach, and for more advanced students solos and concerti from composers such as Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, LIszt, etc. Read More
