I started teaching private singing lessons five-years-ago while still in college. Starting off, I was teaching classical and pop vocal technique to fellow college students. As time progressed I expanded, and began teaching children (ages five-to-twelve) songwriting, guitar, piano and performance. My name is Daniel Erdahl or as kids often call me, Mr. Dan. I have been playing and studying music for nearly 30 years, and teaching for 20. I play and teach many, many styles. I started playing rock and blues as a kid, later becoming very focused on classical guitar. The student usually responds quite favorably to new genre’, but if they don’t, we move on to another song that won’t just help them learn, but will be fun or enjoyable for them to learn. I began playing by ear at age 5. I have perfect pitch and was able to play songs I heard after one hearing by age 6. I made my first record at age 16 and began to perform professionally. I attended Hofstra University and received a BS in Music Theory and Composition. I current am an MA candidate at Queens College Aaron Copeland Scool of Music. Jazz has always been my first love, although it was classical music that got me to play the double bass.
