For young beginning students, I really like to emphasize the fundamentals using whatever book the student uses for their band class. Once they get a good grasp on the fundamentals, then I start to introduce some solo repertoire appropriate to their skill level. For students who are older, I like to find out what area of the trumpet they want to improve on and structure our lessons to try and improve on those areas, as well as incorporate other fundamentals and solo repertoire. I try to make the lessons as fun as possible and geared towards what the student wants to learn. I had the privilege of learning guitar from two guitar professors at the University of Dayton. Because of my music therapy background, I am open to teaching all levels and all abilities. I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More

I started to teach private piano lessons since 2008, I have almost 8 years piano teaching experience. Back to my undergraduate days, I was running my home studio for 5 years in Beijing. I obtained my Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Ball State University.
