Instruments: Cello
I have always been an avid cello teacher, even in my beginning days as a cellist. From the first weeks in my middle school orchestra, the best way I learned a new concept was by showing it to someone else. From then until my high school graduation, I constantly sought out ways to help myself learn outside of the class room and lessons, and teaching was my go to source for additional resources beyond daily practice. Instruments: Piano
My goal is to develop and motivate my students. I keep a file on every student to monitor their progress. I plan on their future far in advance with repertoire that expands their knowledge of music. Choosing the right repertoire depends on how much they love the piece and if they are ready to handle the challenges. By learning challenging repertoire one can see that other pieces are easier to play. Read More
Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion Conga Latin Percussion
Once I was in high school I performed with the majority of our groups including; symphonic band, concert band, jazz band, marching band drumline, and our indoor percussion drumline and my senior year I was section leader for our drumline and concert groups. During my high school career I performed in many WGI contest and finals with our indoor percussion. After high school I marched a season with the DCI group, Memphis Sound where I traveled the east coast for three months performing and practicing. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar Ukulele Electric Guitar Classical Guitar Acoustic Guitar
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Guitar for Kids and Bass for Kids methods. At the same time, I assign exercises that will help develop the students technique. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I try to find out what kind of music the student is interested in, and guide my instruction to keep the lessons interesting and engaging. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching experience has been ongoing in the last 10 years. Mostly, people have heard me sing or attended one of my performances and from that moment on mostly the parents have approached me to become a vocal for their children or themselves. If a student is not having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students will be encouraged to compose their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn and step outside of the box. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Viola Fiddle Music Keyboard
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and want to continue to play the violin not just as a hobby! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and knowing the strength behind private lessons as opposed to group lessons only. The student is more likely to progress if they are consistently practicing and have private lessons with their teacher to develop technique and skill in a one-on-one learning environment. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Trumpet Acoustic Guitar
I like to approach teaching in a relaxed style. I find students do better when they are relaxed and comfortable. I love to see my students gain excitement to their playing as they see themselves progressing. I plan my assignments based on the students desire to improve. The more they improve the more their desire for playing is fueled. In addition, I want to expose the student to many different approaches to playing and have them choose the style that will best suit them. Read More
