I use generally use Faber and Faber for piano and the Yamaha method for guitar. However, each student learns differently therefore I like to meet and assess the needs before choosing a course to follow. For band students, I use the school's chosen method of instruction supplementing with theory, technique and performance pieces. For piano students, I get to know each student's taste in music and choose accordingly. My teaching style is very focused on the student's desire to learn what they want. Very early into taking on a new student, I try to find what/who inspires them. Doing so allows me to tailor my teaching to each individual student. I also like to have 3 main "small improvement" objectives for each lesson. There's improvement on what we did during our last lesson, improvement during the lesson with something new I will introduce, and improvement for our next lesson with something I will give to the students to work on themselves after our lesson. In general I teach scales, reading music, learning to sight read, metronme training, along with muscle development and strengthening. I have a wide experience performing solo, chamber and orchestral music performing in various genras, from classical music to more modern and some types of folk classical music. You will learn at a pace and with a curriculum we develop to best suit your learning style, musical preference, and goals.
