There are many books on drums and piano or voice. I have to get to know the student to determine what I will use to get better results. It will depend on their age and attitude and initial talent. Also, a lot of kids are busy at school and don't have much time for practice. Once the student has developed and progressed over certain aspects I will introduce repertoire that will be learned and performed at the end.
