I was born in Marshall, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Fine Arts in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I've spent seven years in public schools in the surrounding Houston area before coming on to teach with KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2012. Also, I try to engage and get the student excited about what they are learning. This is important to progress and keeping them interested in what they do. I have a variety of methods that I use to teach students.  I have used many Hal Leonard's band and guitar books, I use a wide variety of materials so that the students can achieve their goals. There is always new material coming out and I will also write my own technical exercises if the student needs them.
