Really good music teachers who work well with students of various temperaments and abilities are difficult to come by. My goal is to instill a sense of music appreciation, while at the same time teaching about the technical aspects of music and having realistic goals for my students. I feel qualified to teach music and to do so in a way that each student feels special, valued and encouraged. With my real world experience and unique style of teaching I believe I am an ideal musician to study with. Read More

I have been teaching music since I was a teenager. I started with my neighborhood friends, and later at a school of music, where I also hosted showcase concerts for my students. I then went into private teaching in 2009, and have been teaching student of all ages at their homes. I also taught high school choir, which was a life changing experience for me, as it gave me new insight to older children and how musical tastes evolve as they grow older. Read More

I have been involved in music for as long as I can remember, singing in church choirs and leading contemporary worship. I graduated from McMurry University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance in 2004. Having decided that performing was not my #1 passion I then pursued a Masters of Music degree, specializing in Music Therapy, from Colorado State Univeristy. I have been a professional music therapist for the past 9 years, working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities as well as mental health populations. Read More

By giving piano lessons, all kinds of music knowledges should be taught. I prefer focus on both performance skills and the art/music knowledge in general. Homework is always needed because being able to play piano is the goal of the students.I will have my students practice etude, sonata/sonatina,polyphony pieces and modern pieces at the same time. Homework will be pieces selected from these 4 types. On top of that, I let my students know more about the background of the piece, study the composer, study the history and stories. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
