I'm a young teacher who loves working with students and instilling my passion of music in them. I have been involved in music since the age of 5, and received my Bachelors of Music Education degree from Western Carolina University in 2018. Through my experiences there, I was able to perform across the state of North Carolina, as well as tours in South Carolina, Florida, and take part in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2014. I am enthusiastic about sharing all that I have learned with future students. I have given many different solo and collaborative performances all over the eastern United States. In the collaborative field, I have accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists. I have been the principal pianist in various orchestras and have performed piano in many different ensembles that championed traditional and contemporary works. I have also much experience in performing and studying jazz studies or popular music if this is where the student's interest lies. Read More

Ever since I was a child I had wanted to be a teacher. When I got to Central Piedmont Community College I focused on music education because I knew I wanted to teach music theory in college. After transferring to Wingate University I began studying choral music education because I was fascinated byhow the voice works and blends with other voices in a choir situation. I have had the opportunity to study rock bass, jazz bass, classical guitar, piano, and even private voice lessons from private lessons all the way up through college level lessons and these lessons have given me such a drive and passion for not only music, but music education. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to accomplishing that wants and needs their wants and needs. Read More

I have three different sets of books for new students that are children; so if you have more than one starting lessons, you can hear different songs. I typically use Piano Adventures, Bastien, or Alfred, although Piano Adventures is my favorite. I suggest the lesson book, theory book and technique books be usedsimultaneously to give the student the most well-rounded lesson. For adults or even teenagers, I like to learn about what interests them musically and work towards that style or song. Read More

Music is a very physical thing as well as a very abstract thing. In my lessons, there will be kennistetic learning through movement as well as teaching through sensation. Using tools like Solfege it helps create muscle memory and tuning. Piano students will learn a wealth of theory knowledge, correct posture and fingering patterns. I will also encourage singing in my piano lessons to reaffirm the student's aural skills. The Alexander Technique is also something that my students will explore in our lessons. Read More
