I like to set attainable, yet challenging goals for each student. Ensuring that each student progresses at his or her own pace will encourage the development of a love for music. I try to acknoweldge a student's progress in order to inspire a desire to keep learning. Each lesson includes some technical exercises, a theory component, and other components pertinent to the specific instrument. I have been involved in music since the age of 5, and received my Bachelors of Music Education degree from Western Carolina University in 2018. I was the Concert Choir section leader in College and found leadership and spreading my love for music to be exhilarating! I encourage all of my students to set a reasonable practice schedule to get themselves into the habit of practicing and really reaching their full potential as a student. I encourage my students to not get frustrated. there is a method, and it does not take long to recognize the methods, and how they fall together. Playing the piano is one of the biggest joys of my life, and I love to share that with as many people as possible. I gradauted in 2011 from Hyles-Anderson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education with a minor in Piano Pedagogy. I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd.
