I implement a combination of the Faber method, Alfred method, and compilations of works by talented piano pedagogs such as Keith Snell, Martha Ashleigh, Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield, Melody Bober, and Julie McIntosh Johnson. I use the Suzuki method for violin and the Alfred curriculum for piano. The Suzuki Method really focuses on the ability to train the ear first before reading music. I believe it is important to teach music reading skills as well as playing by ear. I like to figure out what their reason is and progress accordingly.
