For all beginning students, I like to start out with buzzing exercises and embouchure technique. This is the most fundamental part of brass playing. Having a strong foundation in creating a sound consistently and efficiently makes learning everything else about brass playing infinitely easier. For this, I use the Arban method book and the "Buzzing Book" by James Thompson. Once these fundamentals start to become comfortable, I like to introduce some simple songs to apply the new techniques to. Read More

The student decides how fast he/she will progress by practicing very hard, or by working at a more moderate pace. Once again, I always participate in the learning process, as this method of teaching will enhance the private lesson, and a mutual enjoyment and respect will develop! For Piano Students: I usually use the Alfred Piano Course book series, unless a student has already established themselves in a different lesson book series, are familiar with it, and wish to stay with that series. There is an adult series of Alfred Piano Course lesson books as well, so I am able to gear lessons for adults towards their teaching series as well. I usually teach beginning to intermediate level piano students, so these books are extremely helpful to those students because they teach proper fundamentals of piano playing, as well as theory, ear training, and technique. I consider myself a teacher first and performer second. Teaching is my calling and also in my blood I have been teaching violin, viola and piano for the past 30+ years. I am equally skilled on all 3. I have been on the faculty of a music school in my area since 1994. However I have always kept a private studio as well. I have worked with beginner to advanced students from all different backgrounds with great success in helping them acquire the essential skills for independence. Read More

Music is what unites us and gives us peace. It helps us in our daily living. I strive to make it a goal, for families to be able to receive piano lessons at a reasonable price because music is important. Read More

After that I completed my music studies at Valley Forge Christian College (now the University of Valley Forge). I have been a private music teacher for 13 years and an elementary music teacher for 4 years. In that time I developed a skill set specifically designed to help students reach their goals. I also work in depth with students who have disabilities and specialize in adaptive music strategies. In may of 2025 I earned my master's degree in education from Oklahoma Christian University.
