My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I studied music education extensively and studied orchestral conducting with Dr. William Weidrich. After obtaining my Bachelors in Music from USF in 2013, I taught masterclasses in several middle, elementary, and high schools. I was briefly the music teacher at Westshore Elementary School before transitioning back into private lessons. I pivoted my career to food service management for five years from 2, learning valuable customer service and management skills. In 2018, I began teaching private lessons again at Westchase Music School. Read More

I'm not one to push a student too hard; after a certain point, it becomes counter-productive. Everyone is going to progress at their own rate and it's my job to find out what that rate is. Naturally different people will gravitate towards different things. By putting some time in and figuring out their strengths and weaknesses, I can address certain concepts accordingly. Personal preference is very important; you can't force enthusiasm. Read More

The greatest inspiration for me is seeing my students get more and more excited each week about their lessons. To help you stay inspired and engaged, I vary my techniques and tailor each session to your needs. If you don’t read music, I play the lessons myself so you can record them with a smartphone and practice at home. Read More

I choose the books according to my assessment of the student during the introductory lesson. The Faber Method is one of the more popular ones. I also use the Alfred All-in-One books series. As supplemental material, I use Keynote Speller by Shaum and Line a Day by Keith Snell. For solo repertoire, I select methods based on the skills and favorite pieces of each student. Recently, there have been published and won the love of millions of teachers and students around the world, 2-books "Tales of Musical Journey" by Irina Gorin, for beginners. Read More

Since I am also a composer and arranger, I tend to be partial towards the use of my own "homemade" methods.... taking on the idea of composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann (example would be Album of the Young) and writing simple pieces that reinforce specific technical challenges like double thirds, left hand arpeggios, consecutive octaves, pedalling and so on. Sometimes if I have a student that likes Pink Floyd or Eric Clapton, for instance, I will do my best to come up with a simplified version of a particular song using good ole staff paper. Read More

I have been teaching piano lessons for five years, while at college and since I have graduated. I like to keep things interesting for the student by devoting portions of the lesson times to different activities, which include technique and theory along with their regular lesson pieces. I also use incentives to increase their practice times between lessons, which, in turn, increases their sense of accomplishment! Read More
