My teaching style involves the student being able to measure their growth and assess what they can do to continue their growth. I make sure students practice on a regular basis and at the end of lessons, I have them repeat back to me what they need to continue learning. This helps them practice on their own without me in between weekly classes. When an improvement happens during the lesson, I acknowledge it right away (with younger students, I also use a visual, such as stars, so they can see their progress) and have the student say out loud what made it a good run through so they can continue to perform that way! I believe a student needs to have a good strong Foundation starting at something is Middle C and breaking themselves of that by branching out with both hands and playing on opposite sides just to show the full capabilities of the pianoforte and they're great and full potential compositional characteristics. My understanding of musical Theory can help you get a grip on the pianoforte for it is Thoroughly extensive and self studied as well as public school-educated and private universities too. Read More

Due to my experience working with multiple grade/age levels, I have learned to carefully fine tune my teaching strategy for each individual student that I work with. At the beginner level I typically work from method books to ensure a solid development of performance fundamentals. I also like to spend a good bit of time establishing successful warm-up and practice routines. With intermediate level students I continue with more challenging method books as well as standard musical excerpts and etudes. Read More

With students learning or continuing education on the piano, like to start with the basics. Once the student begins to have a grasp for that i begin to introduce reading music and theory. I also like to prepare the student to play any genre of music by sheet music or by ear as well. As far drums i also start with the basics, once the learn and grasp that we continue by learning different techniques of playing as well as teaching basic rudiments and how to read music and play drums by ear. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

My experience date back to my early college days, where I began as a volunteer piano teacher for veterans in a retirement community. I taught for a few months, when I was approached by two different women, one who wanted me to perform cover songs at the retirement facility that she managed, and another who wanted me to give her husband private music lessons. I performed for a few years during college, but stopped teaching after my only student moved away. Read More

Have any of your students won awards or been selected for special honors? How have they succeeded?
Yes, one young man in Mechanicsburg won special honors because of his successful piano career in high school. Unfortunately, He contracted AIDS and died as he entered college.

What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
For me the most difficult was the fingering of difficult passages. That's why I stress this with my students. it was not always interesting but rather boring so it took an exceptional amount of discipline.

What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
My solo senior recital in college for which I preparedI featured Brahms and Schubert both Romantic composers. the Schubert was particular to my soul, as it depicted a base roll which reminded me os someone with an addiction like my Dad. But the piece also had a melodic escape from the horror of being addicted which also depicted my Dad.

Why did you choose your primary instrument?
Availability mostly. We didn't have a harp, but we had the piano. But I always loved the piano music. It was an easy sell. I have always loved piano and it percussiveness but thought it would be smarter to major in organ. However the organ prof wasn't sympathetic to the young woman's goal to be professional and I thought it wiser to major in piano and minor in voice

When will I start to see results?
If you can identify a song's melody, or hear the child humming a piece they are working on, you can begin to claim them as results. If they don't express themselves, maybe in about 6 to 12 months.

Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
I had 2 teachers who inspired me to go into music, both piano teachers: Mrs, Stebbins always gave me more modern, familiar tunes to work on even if only on the melody to play for her and she was always enthusiastic when I played the tune by ear.Dr. Centrone in my advanced stages always allowed me to accompany his girl's chorus which was an honor and I played the solo spotlight in his recitals.

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
Review our lesson no less than 4 times a week and not just before you come for your next lesson. good musicians learn little by little over a period of time with good hard work.

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
If your child asks questions about their parents history, or "noodle" on the keyboard, show an interest in an older student of adult, you might want to begin the process. Interview a teacher, read up on some contemporary artists who have made it and your child likes.
