I'm a teacher who has experience with ages 8 to 80 (at least!). Collaborating with people at all levels of development is wonderful! Adult beginners find that they know more than they had anticipated. They will be playing familiar songs with two hands together in just a few lessons. My background includes diverse styles and genres, collaborations from church music positions and choral accompanying to teaching piano lessons and working with singers and instrumentalists. Read More

For every piano student they will learn theory/ ear training, technique (scales, finger exercises etc..)reading (Sight reading and reading music), and then fun part. Fun part is different for each student and depends on what kind of music they like and also what skills they want to strengthen. It could be learning to sing and play a song at the same time. Or how to jam with others. Or writing their own song. Read More

I try to balance the needs of my students and work to strengthen their musical weaknesses for example working on Vibrato or bow distribution. Usually, I like to spend 10 minutes warming up both hands with long tones, scales, arpeggios, and other fun exercises. During the next 30 minutes, we tend to focus on fixing issues relating to the music such as rhythms or intonation issues. In the last 20 minutes of the lesson I tend to focus on musicality and finding inspiration to give to my students so they can exploit their potential. Read More

Sometimes, my students will spend a couple weeks on a song, and sometimes they will spend five months on a song. It is all dependent on what they need to succeed. Practicing is a major concept that I focus on and therefore provide every student with weekly practice sheets as well as written monthly progress reports to their parents. In lessons with me, there is nothing we can't do and that is what I strive to show my students every week. Read More

I played in the Birmingham Schools Wind Orchestra (Principal Clarinet) and the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra (1st Alto Saxophone). Read More

Hi, I am a pianist, composer, teacher, and multi-instrumentalist originally from upstate New York. I am passionate about all of the above, but I consider teaching to be the most immediately rewarding. In 2008 I completed my degree in music at the State University of New York in Fredonia. Shortly afterwards, I made a journey to the west coast and found a home in the SF bay area. I got involved in the vibrant music scene as quick as possible and played with as many different types of musicians as I could find. Read More

I fell in love with music at the young age of four years old. I began taking lessons then and studied music formally until I was twenty years old. I went on to play in several bands, compose songs and musical scores and make recordings. I have a lot of experience teaching classical and pop music styles and I have a lot of patience. After high school, I began setting my poems to music which led to a reenactment of the well-known songwriter fable, moving from Toronto, Ontario, to California to follow my dream of becoming a successful songwriter.
