I can teach for both styles or even a combination of both styles. I set goals for each week that is provided in the piano homework or play work that I assign. I find this works very well. Every student I work with has their own specific curriculum. Every week I'll have an assignment for the student to practice that will be expected to be completed. Some of my students have gone on to be professionals or teachers, and some are playing the music they love with their friends.
