Most of my students at that time were beginner piano lessons and I love to teach young children. I also greatly enjoy teaching children with autism. When teaching classical piano, I use technique books like Hanon, Pischna for advanced beginners and intermediate. Material can range from Bach, Beethoven, Schumann etc. Contemporary methods usually from an approved song book or possibly a show tune. All students will learn from the previously method technique books. Beginners we will use some method book like Alfred or something similar. Guitar: Mel bay or something for sight reading. My teaching style consists of setting realistic short term and long term goals for my students. I always make sure my students understand the material I am showing them. I encourage them to challenge themselves to achieve their goals they never thought they could achieve. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I attribute my passion in music to all of my music teachers in the past.  I know how important it is for the instructor to approach every lesson with passion in order to start develop the passion within the student.  I believe there is no progress without passion!  Along with a focused practicing schedule, I also encourage all my students to devote some time everyday to listen actively, not passively, to music (any artist or genre) for at least 30 minutes a day. In college, I taught private music theory lessons to a given curriculum. I also music directed a male-voiced a cappella group, conducted a chamber choir, and music directed and accompanied several musical theater productions. Each of these, to different degrees, requires a one-on-one approach, so no matter what the setting, I am always working personally with the student to determine what it is they want to achieve and help them to get there.
