I describe my teaching style as casual in that I tend to encourage creativity along with traditional classical music teaching. Also, I avoid repetitive drill and favor teaching derivation such as intervals as the basis of all scales and chords instead of memorizing scales. I integrate chords and chard variations as appropriate with the execution of a song. I am a Boston based musician who currently works as a pianist at Boston Ballet School and Boston Conservatory at Berklee. I graduated from New England Conservatory with an MM in Collaborative Piano, and received my BM in Piano Performance from New York University. I have performed as a soloist and with ensembles at venues including Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. I typically start woodwind students with the Standard of Excellence Comprehensive Band Method series. I like to use the Faber Piano Adventures Series or the Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course for piano instruction. In addition to the method book, I like to incorporate physical/breathing exercises, supplemental warm-ups, sight-reading, music theory worksheets, and student selected repertoire in lessons. I also encourage students to create their own compositions.  From there I introduce gradually more difficult pieces from the classical, romantic and modern repertoire.  For adults and young adults I start with Alfred Adult Piano Basics and teach from the first and second method book.  After that I proceed in a similar way as I do with the very young students.  I try to understand each student’s personality and interest and make the lesson informative, inspiring and fun and add occasional popular and familiar popular pieces based on the desires of the student.
