I graduated in May with my master's in voice from the Eastman School of Music. I hold bachelor's degrees and certifications in music education and music therapy. I've been teaching on and off for the last few years. I started teaching privately in my senior year of high school with a rather small number of students. I would help fellow students or neighbors with preparing for NYSSMA, auditions, and upcoming shows. I assisted in directing the annual summer musical at North Shore Day Camp as the head voice coach from 2011 - 2014. She was a potential student of my own piano teacher, but this teacher chose to assign this girl to me to teach before taking her on. I successfully taught her the basics of piano playing and in 2 years, when we presented our progress to my piano teacher, this girl was able to play 8-10 pieces, after which she was immediately accepted by my teacher. For all of my students of any age, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and learning a recognizable song hand picked by the student and approved by me. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce jazz repertoire, sight reading and things like, technical exercises, jazz improvisation, theory, ear training and classical music etudes. I began giving private guitar instruction towards the end of my college studies, and after graduation taught group and private lessons at a music school. At that school I taught a vast range of ages, skill levels, and instruments, from 4 year old beginners, to teenage experts, to adults who needed a brush-up.
