At a young age of 14, Gorjana, was already as one of the youngest freshmen in the history of the Academy of Music Art, University of Arts, Belgrade, Serbia. She graduated shortly after turning 18, and was awarded a diploma by the Academia, distinguishing her as the most successful undergraduate students of her generation. She has won 13 national and 9 international piano competitions and played  as a soloist and chamber musician in various European countries, as well as in all major concert halls in Serbia and Montenegro.            In 2005, Gorjana earned the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, in the studio of Professor Barry Snyder. I always try to make the lesson fun.  I look for things that will keep my students inspired. I am extremely patient.  I always encourage my students in a positive way. I try not to be too pushy. If a student doesn't want to learn a piece then I will try and find something that they are more inspired to learn. I like to give them a choice. Nothing is more rewarding then seeing my student progress and overcome the difficulties of starting to play an instrument. Furthermore, it is very important that each one of my students progresses at their own pace. That being said, I encourage progression by setting realistic goals depending on the student's level. My teaching style is very flexible. I am able to teach classical, as well as many different musical genres. I am able to arrange piano songs to the student's level and write down the scores from the songs. My ultimate purpose of teaching piano is to make my students ENJOY their performances. However, the key factor in improving piano skills is hard practice. For voice lessons, I tailor my supplemental book teaching to the students individual learning abilities, as well as learning songs they are passionate about. I began teaching private piano lessons in the fall of 2015. I have taught both adults and children, and have found the experience very rewarding, especially with adult learners. I got my own start in music very late, and was actively discouraged in my youth from pursuing it--so one of my main goals as an educator is to motivate students and encourage them that they can still be performers.
