I have recently graduated with Doctoral of Musical Arts at The Ohio State University under guidance of Katherine Borst Jones and as a soloist I have performed for "Franz Devienne Flute Concerto No. 7 in e minor" with The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra. Students want to learn the piano for a variety of reasons. Some arent really sure they want to learn at all, but mom wants them to give it a shot! Others just want to learn that song on the radio! All are fine reasons to learn, and each deserves a personal approach. For very young students just learning the basics, structure provides direction and comfort, so Id recommend jumping into a beginners curriculum such as by Alfred or Hal Leonard and going from there. I truly believe that when students are nurtured and given a comfortable space they will excel as creating music and art is vulnerable and requires the student to let go. I have volunteer experience doing 5 years of marching band and 2 of those 5 years, I was the section leader for the trumpet section. I also was an Intern as music teacher, student teaching, for 1 Semester of Senior year – 2017 – 2018. For my professional experience, I have done a few gigs on trumpet.
