The piano needs to be praticed every day if the student wants to progress! For Children I teach pop and classical piano, where as adults I try to find out why they want to play and what style of music they would like to play. I tend to be very patient with students and understand that if they are not enjoying the lesson they will not learn or practice as much as they should. I try to get my students playing music quickly, once they are playing and not just practicing it becomes fun.
