I studied percussion under Dr. Koontz at Eastern Kentucky University, where I learned to play all sorts of different styles ranging from classical to global. I performed with Eastern Kentucky University's percussion ensemble on various instruments ranging from vibes to marimba, concert snare, and even pan. Soon after, I auditioned for a World Class Indoor Percussion ensemble in Lexington, Kentucky, where I grew exponentially under the tutelage of world-famous instructors such as Nick Angelis and Zach Schlicher. I began teaching piano my sophomore year of college. During my college career, I built up a studio of nearly 20 students, tutored college-level piano courses, and worked as a Teacher's Assistant in Sight Singing and Aural Training. Since then, I taught for two years at a Summer Music Conservatory in Texas, led week-long keyboard intensive seminars throughout Western Kenya, and most recently, taught at the nation's largest piano conservatory. I believe that lessons should be fun, fast-paced, and stimulate the whole child through a wide variety of songs and genres. Read More

I teach in the bel canto style as I was taught, focusing on developing a greater capacity for breath control, relaxation of the tongue and jaw, good posture, and freedom of movement. However, I tailor every lesson to the student's needs and focus on addressing the vocal issues they face on a given day and in general. As a piano teacher, I have had more than ten years of teaching experience. I was the piano instructor in several music schools and maintained a private piano studio when I did my graduate study in Buffalo. I have taught students of different ages, from five year olds to adults, whose grade levels also varied from beginner to intermediate to advanced. I tailored my teaching to the strengths, weaknesses and interests of each individual student. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my days at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts where I was teaching teenage students piano. As I continued teaching private lessons at home, I've gained a lot of knowledge about the techniques that work best for my students. Throughout more than ten years of teaching, I've noticed the passion and drive that my student has when they start learning their instrument. Read More

My method of teaching is very detailed instruction. There are many books that tend to start with the assumption that you know something about music or that music is easy to just "pick up." I like to start from the students' most basic skill level and fill in all the gaps as they progress. This means that starting out might be a bit slow, but the learning curve for future lessons is shortened and students eventually end up further ahead than if they skipped around. Read More
