Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. The biggest accomplishment to me is helping students of all ages fall in love with music just like I did as a child. Students do not need to perform infront of others if they truly wish not to, as long as they enjoy what they are doing. It is important that a student continues to progress during their time with me, however this will be at their own pace.
