I focus on the fundamentals.  When a student has a firm grasp on the fundamentals they can survive in any arena being a musician may place you in. Additionally I like to help my students discover their unique voice and how that uniqueness helps to add to a bands overall performance. Additionally, To me band is much more then just an extracurricular activity. In 2009, Dan was selected as bass trombonist for the Carnegie Hall Orchestral Winds seminar where he collaborated with the principals from the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, and Philadelphia Orchestra. He has performed with professional ensembles such as Harrisburg Symphony, Waco Symphony Orchestra, and the Gaylen Jeter Jazz Orchestra. Dan has been a scholarship and fellowship recipient for some of the most prestigious music festivals, including the National Orchestral Institute and the Aspen Music Festival. Read More

In 2012 I started teaching students in their homes. I quickly learned the ins and outs of teaching and have never looked back. In the fall of 2013 I gained additional experience while teaching music to kids at Ideal Day Care center. At first I was unable to engage the students, but soon I was the star teacher at the day care center. Watching their faces light up every time they saw me was truly one of the best experiences of my life. Read More

It is my belief that there are three components to learning and improving at music: skill and technique, musical creativity, and, most importantly, the genuine desire to learn and play music. An appetite and aspiration to learn is what molded me into the musician I am today, and I consider it to be the most valuable asset to any student. I motivate students to practice, but also encourage them to take time to listen and appreciate all forms of music, so that they may better understand and enjoy it.
