I have not been teaching lessons for long in my career, but since I grew up in Northeast Ohio and went to school at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, I know the region well. I participated in the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony and the Akron Youth Symphony, so I am familiar with opportunities that are in the area and know how to prepare students for these types of elite ensembles. I try to enable all of my students to gain a better more meanigful appreciation for music. I enjoy teaching and try to incorporate technique while learning music. Regular practice is a good habit to learn early on and I ask all students to bring a notebook to lessons so progress can be recorded. I stress development as a complete musician, and that often includes breaking away from technique to discuss other ideas like music theory, ear training, etc. Most importantly, I can explain difficult concepts in many ways.
