Instruments: Trombone Euphonium Tuba
I earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in 2008 and 2009 in Euphonium Performance and Music Education from the University of North Texas while studying with the renowned Dr. Brian Bowman. While there, I advanced to the final round of a United States Navy Band audition. From 2010-2019, I served as a band director in three different school districts in Texas; now I teach private lessons full-time in the North Dallas area. I love nothing more than opening students' eyes to the riches and depth of musicianship. Read More

Given the trust level that it takes, a bond is definitely formed. Each being very unique, memorable, and adventurous over all. As a private instructor I have seen several ups and downs, whether through the music they are working on or a personal problem, but it is great to see how having something that they are passionate brings this new perspective in everything they do. No matter age, background, aspirations nor gender, music is universal that could bring joy to us all no matter what side of the spectrum we are on. Read More

I believe that each student requires differing methods of instruction in order to grow, so I stay adaptable in which exercises and etudes/solos I assign to meet this requirement. I am also generally happy to hear whatever a student wants to bring in if they have suggestions of their own. I think that being open to working on what a student wants to work on, at least most of the time, is instrumental in ensuring that the student stays motivated in their practicing and continues to have fun playing the trombone! I began teaching lessons in college, and have enjoyed it from the very first day. I try to evaluate each student spefifically and see what they need to improve in the most efficient manner possible. Exercises and drills are present in my lessons, but I alwaystry to teach the bulk of trumpet fundamentals through actual music such as etudes, solos, band music, duets, etc. In this style of teaching, the students can pick what they want to play (after I give them a few guidelines), and we can still target the areas of playing that need work. I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged. Most importantly it makes learning music fun! I love jazz and I encourage efforts of composition and improvisation to help the student take ownership of the notes they're learning. Read More

Being a veteran teacher of over four decades I have enjoyed watching my students grow from barely being able to hold a musical instrument to outstanding musicians. As a teacher I make sure that my students learn music fundamentals as well as understand musicianship. Above all, I want my students to love music. I have taught as a music educator in the classroom in five different high school Even though all of them became solid programs each came with a different set of problems. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trombone
When learning to play an instrument, I believe it is important to start at a slow pace to make sure students comprehend all of the musical elements. To all of my students, I will treat them with kindness and honesty. Honesty is important as a teacher because my goal is to help students find where they can grow and show them ways to do so. For all of my students, I expect them to practice each day and put all of their attention to refining their art. Read More
