I have been playing/singing since 1980. My main instrument is Trombone but I have played Euphonium, Tuba, Trumpet, and Choir. I have been assisting Marching bands with the low brass section for the last 5 years. I have Taught privately for the last 10 years. I have performed in Community bands, orchestras,Jazz bands, Rock bands, Marching bands and Theater bands. I also take part in a holiday group that plays christmas carols for nursing home residents. Like most trumpet teachers, I introduce the Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet, an everything-you-need-to-know book that the student will use throughout their trumpet playing career. However, I also incorporate a variety of other method, solo, and duet books throughout lessons with an intent of maintaining variety, both of material and the methods that the material presents. Each lesson begins with reviews of fundamentals (long tones, breathing, lip slurs, etc.), sight-reading practice and instruction, and instruction on the solo piece that the student had been assigned the week before. I have a passion for music. I started on the piano when I was seven years old and I've never looked back. After spending years in grade school, junior high and high school learning and performing in the band program on trumpet and euphonium, I moved on to play euphonium in The Most Exciting Band in the Land, the Ohio University Marching 110! I do not have a specific teaching style. Being a teacher is a learning experience for the teacher just as much as it is for the student. Every student learns a different way and can require a unique way of teaching. No one student will get the same teaching method.
