My musicial experience started at the age of 7. This was the  beginning of my formal classical piano training.  In high school I stated learning more about the fundamental concepts of Jazz. While attending Cal State for three years I quickly developed and focused on arrangment and composition for all types of music. I have over 15 years experience teaching private lessons at students home as well as at my studio.  I truly believe in all my students and try my hardest to encourage, promote, and evaluate weekly progress.  At the end of the day each student can say I did my best because I practiced and accomplished my goal for set for me this week while having fun learning. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. The methods that I choose to use with my students depends on what they want to learn. Some students want to just play classical music, some pop, some jazz, some marching band, etc. Therefore I do not use the same teaching methods for all students. With that being said, I do make certain that all of my srudents understand the basic elements of music, i.e., time and key signatures, note values, melody, rhythm, harmony, pitch, intonation (if a wind instrument), form, theme and variation, etc. Read More

Learning an instrument is a skill that requires practice and dedication, but making music is something that anyone can do. My goal with each of my students is to encourage creativity and truth in music as an expression, and to provide the technical practices that can maximize their ability to express themselves through their instrument. I find that students who are inspired by their personal appreciation for music practice more and achieve higher, and my goal is to foster an environment of learning and exploration to help them find themselves.
