After graduating from NYU in 2004 with an MA in music performance, I became an active freelance musician where I played orchestral concerts in venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. The approach, overall, is to drive toward the student's goal. When someone wants to learn how to play an instrument well enough to play in a band or orchestra, I usually consider two needs - playing music and interpreting written music. These are basic parts of education, literally easy to define by achieving pages in etude books. I am a passionate instructor who believes that every student can learn and love music.  I graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 2010 with a Music Education degree.  My certifications are K-12 choral, general, and instrumental music.  I have been involved in several performance groups throughout my career, including the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, the UWM Symphony, the Turtle Creek Chamber Orchestra, and the Rock River Philharmonic.  I have performed solo in venues throughout the Milwaukee area.  Read More

I have been teaching children of all ages and performing around the world- most recently in Vienna, Austria- for over a decade. I also had the opportunity to work as a music director for a youth orchestra in Italy which improved my skill in orchestral direction as well as working with large ensembles. For beginning students, I usually start by creating a strong foundation in the student's mind of why they want to learn how to play an instrument and what goals, if any, they initially have for themselves. I then utilize this to help create individual based lesson plans that are driven by the inner workings of the student's mind. I incorporate music theory into every instrument at every skill level because I believe it to be something that is extremely important to understand and that not a lot of students are exposed to before they get to college.
