I have been studying music since I was very young--piano, violin, F horn, trumpet, baritone, but my true love is the viola. After graduating from California State University, I became involved with conducting and established my own youth symphony orchestra, working with teens who were eighteen years and younger. I organized weekly rehearsals, prepared the orchestra repertoire, and arranged performances. During my graduate studies at the San Francisco conservatory I was involved in the internship program coaching orchestra excerpts and private lessons at George Washington High School. My teaching style may be very detailed, but I believe that a certain level of firmness, honesty, as well as kindness is needed to provide a successful violin learning experience. I want each student to be able to have fun while also feeling that they are improving as well. Each student progresses at their own pace and I will tailor my teaching according to each students unique learning abilities. I have been teaching since High School, but it wasn't until my first year of college that I started teaching music. After 6+ years of teaching in my home studios in both Austin and San Antonio, I enjoy a variety of students learning violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar, and even certain music software. My greatest lesson in teaching is that no two students are alike; one student may be more traditional and focused and have no problem learning to read music, for example, while another student may have little to no attention span, making it impossible to learn consistently.
