Im a working composer, hailing from the Pacific Northwest, who is familiar with both the rigors of musicianship and the exploratory nature of creative work. I was awarded a masters degree in 2012 from Western Washington University where I also began a lengthy creative partnership with a non-profit dance company. I began teaching violin at age 15 to young beginners and also developed a small studio class while I was in high school. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching children "the basics" of the instrument and the fun of making music. Over the next several years and through college I would begin accepting advanced students, until my studio class had reached a level that could compete with the likes of Southern California's best young violinists. As of this updated bio due to COVID-19 (Nov. 2020), Greg has been doing a hybrid format of teaching, primarily through Zoom with some in person instruction while maintaining orders of social distancing and wearing masks. He is currently on faculty at Santiago Canyon College, Santa Ana College, Neal Music Instruction in Anaheim, WePlay Music in Irvine, and La Serna High School in Whittier. My teaching method books involve All for Strings and Suzuki books. Suzuki books are categorized from level 1-10, level 8-10 is the equivalent of college level repertoire. I currently have students on level 1-8. In addition, I also look for individual method books and outside repertoire of Suzuki once the student is ready to move at a faster pace or in need of additional help.
