I first began teaching in High School, by providing extra tutoring sessions to some my instructor's other younger students. This provided me with a great opportunity to develop my approach for teaching strong fundamentals in a fun way with beginners and younger students. Each success is worth celebrating and the way to get there is by setting realistic goals. I always offer yearly recitals for any students who would enjoy being a part of them. I accomplish this by incorporating the interests of each student and including time in each lesson to improvise, create, or learn music they are interested in. One of my favorite things to see is the development of a student into a true musician.  When something clicks for a student and they begin making connections and are able to make music their own, that is incredibly exciting to me!  I believe that my teaching style produces musicianship which is rewarding and beneficial to every student.  Learning a musical instrument teaches discipline, multitasking, and many other excellent traits which can be applied to other areas of life. My aspirations as a violin instructor are to enable students to identify, understand, and assess challenges they contend to search for possible solutions. I am a proponent of self-directed learning, and intentionally create situations in class that allow the students to learn through the unconventional approach. I also encourage students to come up with their own exercises and possible solutions for any challenge they encounter. I attended American University, where I received my bachelor's degree in music performance, and then continued to study at Northwestern University, where I received my master's degree.
