My aspirations as a violin instructor are to enable students to identify, understand, and assess challenges they contend to search for possible solutions. I am a proponent of self-directed learning, and intentionally create situations in class that allow the students to learn through the unconventional approach. I also encourage students to come up with their own exercises and possible solutions for any challenge they encounter. For my string students learning violin, viola or cello I typically use the Suzuki method books. There are times that I might recommend the Essential Elements series for those who are just starting off, but at some point I switch the student over to Suzuki. Another supplemental book I encourage my students to get when they get to a certain level is Essentials for Strings. Helping a student reach their musical aspirations and developing their love of music has always been my mission. I help students set goals for themselves, and guide them to those goals through music I choose and music the students are interested in, which I sometimes let the students choose themselves. When a student reaches a goal, it gives them a sense of accomplishment and encourage them to progress even further in their musical journey. I consider myself not just a teacher, but a guide for students navigating the music world. I try to focus the lessons on the individual student. I use faber books as my main method, but also incorporate a lot of sheet music for my students' different repertoires. I have taught many classes on music fundamentals and theory.  I am also very knowledgeable about Alexander technique - a technique used to help those who suffer from performance anxiety. I am also well versed in music therapy and have used it to help people with mental disorders and physical pain achieve some level of relief. Read More

I am a young and engaging teacher.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Nyack College with a degree in Music Education.   I am a scholarship winning pianist with experience both in the classical and contemporary realms.  I am also an advanced violinist and have served as the concert master in both the Molloy College and Nyack College orchestras.  I have performed in four countries and recently accompanied the Nyack College Chorale in Lincoln Center. I attended American University, where I received my bachelor's degree in music performance, and then continued to study at Northwestern University, where I received my master's degree.
