I am a violist first and foremost with eleven years of training, in addition to studying piano for thirteen years and violin for five. In 2016 I started my Undergraduate degree in Music Education at Ithaca College, and will be finishing my degree at Queens College in 2021. Hello! My name is Julia and I'm an NYC-based actor/musician. I graduated in 2015 from Shenandoah Conservatory with a BFA in Acting. I'm also a proud National Theatre Institute and Moscow Art Theater alumna. In 2017, I completed my year and a half run with the Broadway National Tour of Once the Musical as the female swing, understudying: Girl (piano), Rza (violin) and Ex-Girlfriend (violin). The Heartbeat Project brings violin education and concert experience to Najavo children on the reservation in New Mexico. The Joining Hands Project in Israel combined the teaching and performance of both Arabic and Jewish music to children of all backgrounds in Israel, with the purpose of spreading inclusion and celebration of differences. From all of my experiences, I most enjoy teaching. I find that spreading knowledge about something is easy and fun if you are passionate about it, and it has connected me so strongly with my students. Read More

I began studying the recorder in Israel at the age of five. Keenly interested in music, I embarked on my lifelong love of the violin at age seven when I began violin studies with Leon Asa. After emigrating to the United States in 1958, I continued my early violin studies with the late Emily Cleve Gregerson of Omaha, Nebraska. In 1967, while an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, I was accepted as an advanced violin student by Elliot Golub, who was at the time a member of the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago under Ralph Shapey, and a founder of the acclaimed Music of the Baroque series in Chicago.
