I have taught a range of students from kids to teenagers to adults on violin, viola, piano, and drums. I have taught at churches, summer camps, colleges, student homes, and schools. I have been teaching consistently since the summer of 2013, working with students of all ages and ability. Although I specialize in violin performance and pedagogy, I have also spent a significant amount of time teaching piano, music theory, and harmony. I believe that consistent practice, alongside warm encouragement and motivation is the key to any kind of success when teaching music. Over the years, I have learned that teaching violin and music does not have to be done solely on the instrument, and I like to spend time developing a strong sense of harmony and rhythm by playing small practice games throughout a lesson- especially with children. Each student develops at their own pace. To improve quickly, practice is very necessary.  To improve slowly, lessons may be what guides your practice time. It is up to the student (and parent).  I like to keep the pace moving, but repeat as much as necessary to build a firm foundation. I recognize that and feel that instruction tailored to a student's individual style will make for faster and more rewarding progress. Also, I feel that a positive environment that acknowledges accomplishments with positive reinforcement makes for a stable and fun learning environment.
