In my teaching methods, I focus on the correct positioning of both hands and the body as a whole. Freedom of play is important to me, which will help the student to develop technically and artistically. Over many years of experience working with beginners, I have developed my own methodology that enables rapid growth in the play, and my students show very good results already in the first year. An example of this is my student, who entered Manhattan School with a big scholarship after her first year of study performing a concert by D. Read More

It is important to me that each student progress at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I make sure to always acknowledge accomplishments to help fuel the student's desire to progress and make them eager to learn more. By finding out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My experience in teaching violin started in 2001 as an violin instructor at Music House Inc. Over the years I had been teaching groups as well as private sessions with students from public schools from all over the Chicago area. Learning music is a part of developing mental abilities and perception skills that help the student in areas of interests other then strictly musical: from appreciation of the world around them to skills about thinking of the self in relation to their surroundings. I have been a music teacher for as long as I could remember. Since I was young, I loved teaching my friends and even got a couple of them to start learning the violin so that we could all play together. Formally, I started giving private lessons during my college days, teaching 4-5 year old students to play the violin and piano. In the last 10 years, I have explored further by teaching a wider range of age groups (3-70), different skill levels (beginner through advanced), and a variety of genres (classical, pop, K-pop, rock, blues). Nothing is more rewarding than when my students leave the lesson more motivated than when they came. I understand that it is a challenge for students to go home and practice, so I address this by setting goals for the student. I want the student to leave the lesson feeling proud of what they accomplished and motivated to continue learning. I want them to be able to apply the techniques they learn in music to other areas of study so that they can explore and be curious about everything. Read More

I prefer to start young beginners with the Suzuki method. I feel it's the best method for not only instilling the correct posture and tone production, but also a great method for instilling a passion for the instrument. Students learn songs by rote in a lesson, and then practice at home along with a recording in order to train the ear. Once students have a good foundation, I add in I Can Read Music and use it as a supplement to continued Suzuki practice to begin developing music reading skills. Read More
