I love to teach students music and help them grow both as people and musicians. In 2009, I graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, and my primary instruments were violin, viola, and piano. After graduation, I continued to maintain my home studio where I taught individual lessons, and I also taught elementary orchestra for Chandler Unified. For piano beginners I use the Faber book series. I prefer these books because it gives a mixture of theory and technique that I think is essential to learn at an early stage. For violin beginners I prefer to use the Suzuki Method books. These books are great because they get the student playing quickly, while still introducing the foundations of basic theory for reading music. Beginning guitar is a little more flexible depending on the students goals and the style they would like to learn. Read More

No matter what, I always try to end the lesson with something good, because I find the last few minutes of the lesson are what the student takes home with them. If they take home something negative, it is less likely that they will feel the desire to play or practice or look forward to the next lesson. Whereas if they leave with a feeling of accomplishment or improvement, I find more beneficial effects take place throughout the week and during the next lesson. Read More
