I began my music education at the age of 8 in Boston, along with my siblings and mother. I chose violin, studied at the South End Music Center, and relied on my time with violin as a constant in an otherwise turbulent young life. During the early 1970's I submerged myself in the rich folk scene of Cambridge, MA, playing fiddle and backup violin and sharing the stage with numerous bands. Read More

Sharing my knowledge with my students and seeing them achieve something they worked hard for, and being part of the process is one of the biggest joys in teaching for me. I always aim to help my students produce a beautiful tone, while making sure they are not doing wrong physical movements that would make things difficult. I remember when I helped a 6 year old start the violin from scratch, and not too long after, she was able to play happy birthday to her grandparents and even on her own birthday. Read More

I would approach teaching by making sure the student is comfortable with whatever i am showing them, and trying to adapt to whatever style makes them comfortable if necessary. Setting goals for the end of each lesson is important based on their skill level and how quickly they pick up the information. I will do whatever it takes to make sure the student is getting some sort of value from the lesson, and make every minute count. Read More

Every time I teach a student, I learn something new about people and my instrument. I end up learning right along with them, and I love it! if you are starting from ground zero, I typically like to start with the Suzuki method books, and learning by ear. Learning good techniques and is of the utmost importance at this stage! Once you as a student are more comfortable with the violin, then I like to branch out and incorporate songs and techniques that you'd like to learn, which can be anything that is within your skill set. I graduated from Longy School of Music of Bard College with a Master's Degree in violin performance. At Longy School of Music of Bard College, I studied with world-class violinist and conductor, Dr. Sean Wang, as well as Grammy nominated violinist Jesse Mills, the co-founder of the Horszowski Trio. During my two years of conservatory education at Longy School of Music of Bard College, I received systematic training in pitch, European written theory, score reading and conducting; Read More

I'm a fun and free-spirited instructor who strives to inspire students with the same joy I receive from music. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Business/Management (principal instruments: violin and voice). My career in the music industry has ranged from artist management, record labels, and recording studio management all while teaching violin and voice in my spare time. Since 2008, I have run a high-end classical recording studio in which I have the pleasure to work with world-class artists every day. Read More

I really focus on offering differentiated instruction and understand the importance of being able to adapt student to student. I typically do break our sessions up into focused segments in my lesson plans. I ensure that we cover music theory, rhythm exercises, improvising, and more. As far as practice material goes, I begin most with simple sheet music and some print-outs, however, we will expand into books, recording, and writing your own music. Read More
