The beauty of studying music is that there is always something else to learn, but the most moving and fun part of singing is communicating ideas and poetry. I aim to develop personal ownership of songs/repertoire in all students (no matter their age) alongside the instruction and study of healthy vocal technique. Thank you for visiting my page. I guess music found me. On a family trip to Mexico by way of Arizona when I was eleven years old I remember guitars seemed to be everywhere. I asked my mom and dad if I could have the toy. When we got home from the trip I registered for music lessons and the guitar soon became my favorite toy. Three things happened that changed my life - after a few months my lesson was "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and I remember that if I practiced it hard enough I could get it to sound right. I began teaching private lessons since last 3 years. I encourage everyone to get basic classical training first to have perfect pitch. I encourage my students to enter competition, recitals and also give music exams. I also encourage them to improvise on the idea or on the song. I also encourage them to listen to good music as one also learns many things by listening.. My passion for singing dates back to when I was a child, singing in choirs and performing in churches. In 2011, I graduated from the Greatbach School of Music at Houghton College, earning a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with honors. I have been blessed to perform in several regional theatre productions, as well as two off-Broadway shows. I have brought my love of coaching and teaching to these productions. I was the vocal captain at La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Ohio, and the music director for an off-Broadway production. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to the summer after my Sophomore year of High School. I was a teaching assistant at a four week summer camp called The Summer Arts Workshop. I taught drama and music classes, students grades 5 - 12. In my classes are created group lessons, opportunities for student performance, and facilitated community building between the students. I’m a singing teacher who is passionate about helping my students find their voice and tell their own personal stories in the songs we work on. Some become professional singers/songwriters if that is their goal. Some are accepted into college music programs. After two years as a Musical Theater major at Tisch School of the Arts, I graduated from New York University’s Gallatin Independent Study program, merging my wider interests in Classic Texts, Science, and Writing while continuing to study singing privately in NYC. I work with a variety of learning methods including Hal Leonard, John Thompson, Bastien, Alfred, Hanon, Czerny and Faber.  I select methodology and solo repertoire to best improve my students technique while at the same time keeping their interest and enthusiasm.
